Timber Firm's Growth to create 15 jobs
Clifford Jones Timber Ltd, on Brickfield Lane, off the A525 Denbigh Road, applied for permission to construct a building for creating wood pellets, with a second shed for raw materials, installation of a new septic tank and construction of new vehicular access, and has been given consent to start building by Denbighshire County Council, subject to 23 conditions.

"This is the natural development of an industrial operation," said the firm's agent Arwel Davies.

The plans would mean a low carbon footprint for the firm as the timber would be made into pellets on site instead of having to be sent away on trucks to another location.

"The firm currently employs over 40 people and these plans would not only safeguard the existing workforce but create 15 new jobs which would benefit the local economy.

"Wood pellets are a renewable energy and this is a key part of the plans.

"It will bring income to the rural community, benefit the local community and bring Ruthin and Denbighshire to the forefront of environmental issues," he said.

Cllr Bob Barton, member for Llanarmon-yn-Ial and Llandegla, said: "I am delighted to see this application. Sustainable and renewable energy resources represent all the things the Welsh Assembly is promoting.

"By granting this we would be showing the rest of North Wales the way forward," he added.

All 22 voting members were in favour of the proposal and planning permission was granted with no objection.

Measures to control noise levels, construction noise, lighting and dust levels are all included in the conditions that the consent was subject to.

Clifford Jones Timber's managing director Alan Jones said that he was delighted with the result.

"This is a big load off my mind, it's really excellent," he said.
